Role Development I: LPN to RN (NUR 206)
Term: 2013-2014 Academic Year Fall Term
This course provides an overview of the historical development of nursing as a profession. The LPN to RN student explores topics such as: various levels of educational preparation; purpose of nursing theories; professional organizations; interventions that promote continuity of care; and opportunities for service within nursing. Students examine the National Patient Safety Goals and strategies that promote safe, cost-efficient care. Students also focus on expanding their communication skills with colleagues and interdisciplinary health care providers. Students explore skills and abilities related to being an effective team member, delegating effectively, and managing the care of clients.
